Hi, I’m Nicola and I’m a qualified yoga teacher through the Seasonal Yoga Academy with Carla Webster at Prana Yoga Studio. My personal practice began as a means of supporting my physical health and primarily took place online however I cannot stress enough the personal growth and development gained through both teacher training and class based, in person practice. The sense of community gained via both just can’t be matched on a screen in my humble opinion. Amongst many other things, yoga has provided me with strategies through breath, movement and meditation to support and regulate my nervous system, rest my mind and strengthen my body, the benefits of which are supported by a growing body of evidence in the field of health and neuroscience.

Teaching yoga was never part of a bigger plan for me however I’ve completely fallen in love with the practice and am learning to be much more driven by the things that inspire me. Yoga helps me do this. I value authenticity and connection and find social media and technology completely over-whelming! I’m a thinker and a feeler. I love reading and music. I love laughter, silliness, stillness. I love the sound of waves and the crunch of autumn leaves. I love that yoga has helped me tap into all of these things, not by offering a ‘how to’ but through a practice which allows you to free up space within yourself to nourish your true nature and tap into your inner resources.

Juggling the demands of a busy life is hard but small moments for ourselves within the day and/or week can help bring us back to a more balanced state. I’m all for striving for that balance!

If you feel like any of Yoga’s benefits appeal to you and are thinking about stepping on the mat for first time, or, if you practice yoga and would like to pop along to any of my classes, I would love to see you there. I feel the need to caveat this with the following - I am first and foremost a student and I learn something new about yoga every day so, like me, my classes are likely to be ever evolving. ‘Teach what you need’ was one of the most valuable pieces of advice I’ve been given as a student  therefore my current focus is on channelling your inner strength, offering opportunities for self-enquiry and striving for balance in every sense of the word whilst always being guided by and respectful of this ancient tradition.
