(40 Hour Introductory Training – 28 Contact / 12 Home Study)
This Pre-Foundation training introduces students to the therapeutic foundations of yoga practice through posture labs, breathwork, philosophy, and energetics. It provides a clear grounding in alignment, anatomy, and the inner experience of practice.
Students will explore yoga’s roots in history and philosophy, understand basic anatomy and physiology in relation to posture, and experience how energy flows through the body via the five vayus. With a balance of contact hours and guided home study (supported by an online platform), this course establishes a personal and embodied foundation for further training.
The course includes:
Roots & History: Early references to posture (sthira sukham asanam), yoga as union, and the role of practice in Patanjali’s Eight Limbs.
Anatomy & Physiology: Spine, diaphragm, breath mechanics, core stability, digestion, circulation, and nervous system basics.
Energetics (Vayus): Apana (grounding), Prana (inhalation, vitality), Samana (balance), Udana (expression, uplift), Vyana (integration).
Philosophy: Koshas (layers of being), tapas & svādhyāya (discipline and self-study), karuna (compassion) and meditation as yoga’s heart.
Posture Labs: Safe alignment and personal experience of foundational asanas – standing, seated, twists, backbends, forward folds, and restorative postures.
Breath & Awareness: Linking asana with pranayama, relaxation, and meditation.
Personal Alignment: Developing awareness of one’s own body, breath, and inner balance.
Home Practice: Guided sequences (10–20 mins daily), meditation audio, reflective journalling, and online learning resources.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
